Version 1.0
The FFTTRPG originally began life as a project founded by Scott Tengelin in February of 1995. Development began with a small initial group of designers and administrators consisting of Tengelin, Martin Drury, Chris Pomeroy, and Matthew Martin. After many years and changing of hands, it became a fully-realized dream that was spearheaded by Samuel Banner as the lead developer. The website hosting the original RPG is gone now unfortunately, so I cannot say anymore about the original product and the impact it has made on newer versions.
Dust of the Giant in the Playground forums did multiple complete reworks of the system, making it easier to use as an actual tabletop RPG and conductive for casual play. Beta testing took place on http://www.rpol.net, and many enthusiastic members of the Giant in the Playground forums assisted greatly during the design process:

Version 2.0
I’ve had a lot of enjoyment over the years with Dust’s system - it evokes the dramatic, epic battle nature of the series well where good and evil are locked in constant opposition. The system however is outdated at this point and has some balance issues that have not been addressed in the previous rendition of this game. This version of the game takes Dust’s system, developer and feedback notes that had been shared on the Internet, and some of the more modern Final Fantasy games in an attempt to update the game.
This version of Final Fantasy d6 has been updated and beta tested by Steven Harrington, Brittany Harrington, Cody Frisbee (who also did the artwork for this version), Richard Rodriguez, and Devon Chenoweth. As always, this work is for free distribution and not for sale under any circumstances.
I hope you enjoy this rendition of FFd6!
